Each year, IABC/Arkansas honors communications excellence with the Communicator of the Year (COTY) and John K. Woodruff Award for Lifetime Achievement. This year's COTY winner is Marcy Doderer, of Arkansas Children's, and Broadway Joe Booker, with Cumulus Media-Little Rock, will receive the Woodruff honor.

Marcy L. Doderer is passionate about improving healthcare for children in the state. She took the helm as president and CEO of Arkansas Children’s in July 2013 and created the health care system’s vision to “fundamentally transform health care delivery for the children of Arkansas and beyond.” She has been exceptional in communicating and implementing that vision -- including overseeing the opening earlier this year of Northwest Arkansas's first pediatric hospital, located in Springdale and serving 11 counties in the area.

Broadway Joe Booker, a native of South Carolina, began his broadcasting career in the military in 1976, as an announcer in the Armed Forces Korean Network. After relocating to Arkansas, he continued to hone his skills in broadcasting and became a leading radio personality in Central Arkansas. Broadway Joe is currently the director of programming at Cumulus Media-Little Rock, program director for KIPR Power 92.3FM, host of the Broadway Joe Talk Show and host of the Broadway Joe Video Show, Little Rock’s first urban music video program.

COTY is presented to a non-IABC member who leads the way in fostering and participating in professional communication.

Established in 2007 in memory of John Woodruff, the John K. Woodruff Award for Lifetime Achievement honors lifetime achievement and/or body of work in the field of professional business communication. The award is open to both members and non-members of IABC/Arkansas.

The COTY and Woodruff Award recipients are selected by the IABC/Arkansas Past Presidents' Council.
